Philosophy Indibro Premium Coffe

About Coffee

Hundreds of years ago, the idea of iced coffee would have sounded peculiar, an Affogato—a shot of hot espresso poured over vanilla ice cream—would have seemed absurd, and the use of liquid palm sugar in coffee would not have crossed anyone’s mind. However, today, a cup of cappuccino is a breakfast staple, a Long Black provides a much-needed boost of motivation, and queues form at coffee shops for Brown Sugar Boba Iced Coffee. Coffee is no longer just a beverage; it has become an integral part of our lifestyle.

In 800 BC, a goat herder named Kaldi noticed his goats became very energetic after eating berries from a tree. Thus, the magic of coffee was discovered in Ethiopia and eventually spread worldwide, including to Indonesia.

Situated in the Coffee Belt along the equator, Indonesia boasts ideal conditions for coffee cultivation. The diverse land contours and weather produce distinct coffee characteristics, from Sumatra’s Arabica Mandailing with its chocolate notes and low acidity to Bali Kintamani’s citrusy and medium acidity. It is no wonder Indonesia is one of the world’s top four coffee suppliers, alongside Brazil, Vietnam, and Colombia.

The richness and variety of these coffee profiles inspired us to introduce INDIBRO, a premium coffee bean processing company that employs professional roasting methods. We produce a wide range of coffee, including Single Origin Coffee, Signature Coffee, Drip Coffee, Blend Coffee, Luwak Coffee, and Basic Coffee, all sourced from 100% genuine Indonesian coffee beans. The name of kopi INDIBRO is an acronym for “kopi INDonesia Ini BRO!” or “this is Indonesian coffee, bro!”—a declaration to domestic and international coffee enthusiasts about Indonesian coffee’s richness and superior quality.

MANDALA TIGER

The concept of Mandala is deeply ingrained in Indonesian culture, exemplified by Borobudur Temple that since ancient times in the archipelago (Nusantara), our ancestors wove Mandala elements into various creative achievements. Apart from being found in Buddhist tradition, Mandala is also present in Hinduism, Jainism, and even Shintoism, indicating its universality in human civilization. Essentially, the Mandala represents a “circle,” symbolizing the cycle of life, repetition, and the individual’s spiritual journey. It embodies the ideal concept of the universe and its intrinsic connection to humanity. The Borobudur Mandala, for instance, reflects the Javanese mancapat (or mancalima) tradition, illustrating the stages of spiritual purification.

As a symbolic representation of life’s cycle, the Mandala parallels the journey of coffee from planting to harvesting, culminating in a perfect cup. Just as meticulous and skilled cultivation nurtures coffee, Mandala underscores the profound connection between the universe and humanity, highlighting their harmony. Cultivating and harvesting coffee transcends agricultural activity, preserving nature to yield exceptional coffee beans.

Adopting Mandala as the INDIBRO logo, we aspire to bring aesthetic pleasure and invite coffee enthusiasts to experience moments of spiritual enlightenment and deep reflection with every sip.

In the INDIBRO logo, the Mandala merges with the symbol of the Javanese Tiger, epitomizing balance, harmony, rebirth, spiritual growth, grandeur, and unity. This combination embodies the coffee-drinking experience as not merely savoring taste but also appreciating the profound relationship between humans, nature, and spirituality.

The Javanese Tiger (Panthera Tigris Sondaica), one of the rarest tiger subspecies, is revered for its majestic presence and protective nature. Known for its strength and respect for local fauna, the Javanese Tiger is honored as a guardian of the forest and village tranquility. It carries esteemed titles like “mbah,” “tuan,” and “mbahureksa,” meaning protector and leader of the wild pack.

The Javanese Tiger perfectly aligns with INDIBRO’s vision and mission as a symbol of strength, courage, and resilience. This majestic creature represents the perseverance of coffee farmers facing cultivation challenges and the dedication of coffee makers to crafting quality products. Despite its power, the tiger harmoniously coexists within the natural ecosystem, reflecting the balance between coffee cultivation, nature, and the local community. The Javanese Tiger is a symbol of identity and pride, and through our logo, we aim to celebrate local heritage and promote Indonesia’s natural and cultural wealth to the world.

The Javanese Tiger, embodying strength, dignity, courage, harmony with nature, and a commitment to quality, is the essence we aim to radiate through the INDIBRO logo.

56 POINTS

The 56 points surrounding the tiger in our logo represent transformation. In numerology, this number is a potent source of energy and inspiration, much like how each sip of coffee can awaken creativity and flow.

When broken down, the number five is associated with the five elements in Chinese tradition: water, fire, wood, earth, and metal. These elements symbolize freedom and dynamism. Meanwhile, six is considered one of the luckiest numbers, bringing smoothness and happiness, similar to the auspicious number eight.

This philosophy is echoed in the Javanese tradition. The number five symbolizes self-strength (panca), supernatural power (astra), and orderliness (tumata). It reflects the five human elements: body (physical), desire (soul), mind (intellect), spirit (atma), and conscience (buddhi). Similarly, the number six in Javanese culture represents empathy and sympathy (rasa), wisdom and intelligence (bremana), and scholarship (anggata).

With this rich symbolism, INDIBRO coffee aims to provide an enjoyable and liberating experience, balancing taste and aroma to bring good fortune. We believe brewing and sipping coffee transcends mere consumption; it is a ritual that awakens all the senses to optimal awareness. This “awakening” generates positive energy, inviting good vibrations into our lives. The 56 points symbolize this transformative journey: from coffee beans to a rich, enjoyable beverage, from stagnation to inspiration.

OCTAGRAM

The eight-pointed star, or octagram, is an ancient symbol imbued with profound meanings across various world cultures. Often associated with light and the sun, it signifies happiness and eternity. Formed by uniting two squares into an eight-pointed star, the octagram embodies dualities such as spiritual and material, male and female, and Yin and Yang. Its symmetrical design reflects a harmonious balance among diverse elements.

Balance, interconnection, diversity, complexity, and harmony are all embodied in the octagram, and these principles are essential in crafting exceptional coffee. Artisans must skillfully balance temperature, taste, aroma, acidity, and body to create a delicious and full-bodied coffee. Just as the octagram relies on the interconnection of its parts, every stage in the coffee production process—from planting and harvesting to processing and brewing—is crucial in producing high-quality coffee.

The complexity of the octagram mirrors the richness and diversity of Indonesia’s coffee varieties, roasting methods, and flavor profiles. Each region offers its unique characteristics, from Java Preanger to Flores Bajawa, from Gayo Takengon to Toraja Mamasa, each contributing to the prestigious legacy of Indonesian coffee.

Finally, the harmonious symmetry of the octagram signifies the importance of order and precision in every step of the production process, ensuring the consistent delivery of premium coffee. This philosophy reflects our aspiration for INDIBRO: to achieve enduring excellence, bringing happiness and harmony to coffee enthusiasts everywhere.

GOLD COLOR

Since ancient times, gold has been revered as a symbol of purity and grandeur. During the Zhou Dynasty in the 11th century BC, gold was extensively used in art, architecture, and clothing, symbolizing wealth, luxury, and high social status. It represents the power of the sun, believed to bring luck and success. Its incorruptible nature, resistant to the ravages of time, makes gold a symbol of eternity. In Taoism and Buddhism, gold holds deep spiritual significance, with many religious statues and artifacts adorned in gold to signify wisdom and divine light.

In the realm of coffee, the gold in the INDIBRO logo reflects the premium quality and exclusivity of our carefully selected coffee beans. These beans are meticulously processed and served with dedication, embodying the wisdom gained from our profound understanding of coffee cultivation, roasting methods, and brewing techniques. Our commitment to excellence, from the plantation to your cup, aims to produce high-quality coffee that brings happiness and magical moments with every sip.

Interestingly, in Chinese mythology, the golden tiger is considered the leader among the four tigers, regulating the harmony of the universe. Drawing on these values and philosophies, we envision INDIBRO as the “Golden Tiger” of the coffee world—an industry leader in Indonesia and across Asia.

Benjamin Franklin, an American statesman from the 18th century, once remarked, “Among the luxuries of the table… coffee may be considered one of the most valuable. It excites cheerfulness without intoxication, and the pleasing flow it occasions… is never followed by sadness, languor, or debility.” Indeed, coffee never lies about taste. Each cup tells a story—black is not always dirty, and bitter doesn’t always signify sadness. Coffee is an intermediary that lightens the atmosphere, much like the uplifting energy emanating from every cup of INDIBRO coffee.

Embrace the golden legacy with INDIBRO, where every sip celebrates quality, wisdom, and the timeless pursuit of excellence.
